Administration of Medication

| › About Us Index ‹ || « Return to previous page |

 The Centre will administer medication when it is required during program hours. Should the medication be required in the evening, it is the parent responsibility to take it home at the end of the day.

ü  All physician-prescribed medication will be administered to a child only from the original container, which must clearly label the child’s name, name of medication, dosage, date of purchase, DIN, and instructions for storage and administration. The Centre must also furnish such information respecting such narcotics as the Ministry may require and shall permit access to the records required to be kept by these Regulations.

ü  Parents must complete a signed ‘Medication Authorization Form’ indicating the times the medication is to be given, as well as the dosage, and when to administer.

ü  If a child develops a fever of 102 F or higher, the Centre will contact parent for pick-up, and will administer Tempra with verbal permission given by the parent, or if the parent is unavailable, the emergency contact person.

All medication must be placed in a lockable container. Each Program Room has lockable medicine boxes on the teacher counter and in the fridges. Staff are to place the medication in the locked medicine boxes (refrigerator or cupboard). Should the medication be required in the evening, it is the parent’s responsibility to take it home at the end of the day.
